Actually, I met Erik Jon Slangerup once too. When I was at Book Expo he was sitting there signing his books. So I waited in line and said, "Hi -- I am the father of "Bingle Bangdoodle," and I whipped out a wallet photo of Isaac. It was pretty cool. Isaac: In the book, I'm the guy with the big white chef hat and blue eyes and yellow hair. Monsterlicious is a fun book to use as your focus story for the week. Description: Mosterlicious is a book about a little boy who can’t seem to make any food recipe right. His father owns a nice restaurant, and when he goes out of town leaves his son, Bingle in charge.

Bingle makes crazy recipes, which scares away the human guests, but is perfect for the new guests- the Monsters.

Monsterlicious. [Erik Jon Slangerup; John Sandford] -- When Bingle Bangdoodle is left in charge of the 4-star Bangdoodle Restaurant during his father's absence, he attracts a whole new clientele with his unusual creations. Monsterlicious sounds like a fun book. We love gross stuff at our house (joking about it, that is, not eating it).

My daughter and I even wrote a poem called Worm Spaghetti. It's one of my favorites. 2/2/09, PM. Monsterlicious is a fun book to use as your focus story for the week. Perfect if you are looking for a "monster" book that is not Halloween. Suggestions for differentiating activities are included.

We Call It Monster by Lachlan Walter is a well-written and beautifully presented monster story which gives a great apocalyptic high to the genre lovers like myself.I enjoyed this book immensely and though I'm not a huge monster story fan yet, I absolutely enjoyed reading it.

The hero of this book is the story itself, the monsters and the different characters play a huge part in the story /5(13). We've reviewed two of his books in the past: "Monsterlicious" and "Tale of a Tail." As we're closing in on our th review, we're honored that he took the time to video chat with us for an interview.

(The portrait above is by Gracie.) As I said, John Sandford is one of my favorite people in the world, and I'm proud to count him as mentor, hero. The book has reference to skin, bones, boogers, body parts (eyes and arm), teeth, and ear wax.

You could focus on any one of these things or all of them when introducing a unit on the body. Some Art integration activities when using this book to teach the body is: self-portraits, skeleton bodies, or go outside with chalk and trace students. You can use this book as an introduction/example, and have the students choose their own books, or you can have students read this book to the class, you, or in a group.

The Activity: have students read the book in a dramatic way- as if they were the little boy missing his hair, brain, etc. This is a good way to help with fluency. It was awesome, and at the end of this book, you'll be dying to read the next book (I know I am!).

But all in all, I'd say this book is NOT for the faint-hearted, and would recommend this book for people around the age of 11+. By me, this book has been given a rating of 25/10!

Bonnie v. Adelaide. true. Monsterlicious reading! Dad: What did you think about "The Hobbit"? Isaac (age 13): "The Hobbit" is one of my favorite books.

Lily (age 8): It's the bestest book ever. Really good. It should win an award. Isaac: I like it because it feels like it could have really happened thousands of years ago. I like how the author describes everything.
